The City boss confessed experiencing "embarrassment" following an exchange with a TV crew member in the wake of the Citizens' loss away to the Magpies this past weekend.

At full time, a visibly upset Guardiola stepped onto the field and had heated discussions with match official Sam Barrott and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, and also touched the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I apologised," the manager remarked. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, looking back. I don’t like it. I immediately apologized to the operator. I am who I am. With a thousand matches under my belt I’m not a perfect person, errors happen."

"One thing is certain, I defend any team and my club, that’s for sure. The reason why I support my squad is clear – based on my career to clinch the title we have to do 100 points, high nineties, otherwise we don’t win it."

City's Position and Guardiola's Assessment

City are third and trail leaders Arsenal by seven points following their fourth loss of the season. "Four defeats in twelve matches we have to improve a lot," he conceded. "Technically, we can still achieve all."

Exchange with Bruno

On the subject of his talk with Guimarães, the coach explained: "We have known Bruno for many years and every time after the game, home or away, we converse. Our paths always cross and I always have a good relationship. I love it. I'm passionate, I like discussing and gesticulate."

He wouldn't mind if an opposition manager addressed his squad right after the final whistle. "No - as long as it's respectful like I always have done, it's fine," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "The referee was involved throughout the match, he was involved. My God, he was involved."

Controversial Decisions

The team felt aggrieved that the officials denied a spot-kick on a Schär tackle against Foden, and doubted Bruno's positioning on Barnes' goal the decisive strike. Pictures published later show he was level.

Upcoming Milestone

He will manage his century in Europe against Bayer Leverkusen this week. "That's impressive, it means that every season annually," he commented.

The club has ten points from four matches of the league phase, while Leverkusen have five.
