Ultra-Conservative Ex- Congressman José Antonio Kast Elected as Chile New Head of State.
After a definitive final ballot, far-right candidate José Antonio Kast has won the presidency in Chile.
A Commanding Victory
After over 99% of polling stations reporting, Kast secured 58.17% of the votes, beating leftist former minister Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This represents Kast's third attempt at the presidency, having previously been beaten by the incumbent president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
Platform Centered On Law and Order and Migration
Known for his unwavering socially conservative views and admiration for the era of former leader Augusto Pinochet, Kast's platform was largely built on promises to combat increasing insecurity and radically restrict migration.
